CornerStone Ladies Lightweight Polo

Screen-Printed

PROS:

Long-lasting and withstands large number of washes.
The more items a order has, the cheaper the cost per unit is because the fixed costs are split across items.
Has vibrant colored prints because it uses ink based on color desired and not cyan, magenta, yellow and black dots to recreate images like other methods do (DTG).
Larger amounts of ink are used, therefore more durable and also long-lasting.
Not an easily replaced method because it can be manual or computerized.

CONS:

Not practical small orders because of the extra set-up time for each logo.
The more colors it has, the more expensive the process. Each color requires a new screen set up. So we tend to go up to 9 colors for screen-printing and then DTG, DTF has to take over from there.

Embroidered

PROS:

Extremely long-lasting
Retains color really well so it’s colorfulness and vibrancy remains sharp for a longer period of time.
You can embroider on all fabrics and materials, while printing has its limits.
You can have up to 20 colors with no extra cost, unlike screen printing.

CONS:

More pricey than printing because it is based upon the amount of stitches needed to fulfill the design; however, it does make up for it in selection of colors as well as standing the test of time.
An overly complex and intricate design cannot always lend itself to embroidery and could be don’t better with printing.

DTF

PROS:

No set-up costs, ideal for QTY of 100 and lower.
Excellent option for designers with high numbers of colors as well as effects that colors spilling into one another (and other effects).
Best method for re-creating full color photographs.
Doesn’t require the artwork to be in a specific format (vectorized).

CONS:

A pre-treatment or underboss layer must be applied to dark garments in order for the artwork to adhere to the garment, but this sometimes reacts with the fabric or dye of the item and leaves quite obvious staining (only possible to know until after treatment has been applied).
Prints on darker garments appear less clear and more grainy.
More difficult to match exact color code, so the colors may be slightly off.
Polyester garments, blends of lower than 80% cotton cannot be printed using this method.
More expensive for larger orders, ideal for lower volume orders.
